Rivers Week 2023
The BCC’s Biggest Annual Event – June 24-July 2, 2023
Join dozens of other paddlers for the BCC’s biggest annual event. Most days, you’ll have a choice of where to paddle, from lakes to gentle rivers and from fun Grade IIs to challenging Grade IIIs. Throughout the week, you’ll have opportunities to socialize, bike, hike and swim in the river. Apres paddling is often time for sharing snacks, drinks and stories.
Low Water Location Changes
This year, our paddling options have shifted due to very low water in our usual Similkameen, Tulameen, Coldwater and Nicola rivers. We will start on the weekend of June 24-July 2 at the same location as last year, the Outpost Camp on the Similkameen River, https://outpost-camping.business.site/ but on the Monday June 26 until June 30, we will move to paddle the Middle Shuswap river, camping at Cherryville Rec site. The middle Shuswap has a range of excellent river runs.
Then, for the long weekend, June 30-July 3, we will move to the North Thompson River, camping at the Rock and River Rustic resort, located on the river at Savona: https://www.paradisethompson.com/
For the rec site, be sure to bring your own water, and for all sites, bring CASH to pay camping fees, and be aware that the Rock and River resort does not permit any glass for drinks – foam or plastic cups or cans only. They also require campers to abide by the Campers Code: Camper’s Code – Take the Pledge and Please Camp Responsibly (camperscode.com)
At the Rock and River resort, the cost is $20 per person per night – a bit more than the other locations, but given the demand on the long weekend and the last minute change, it took some extra effort to secure camping for the club.
