SUMMARY:BCC Long Trips Meeting (by Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:BCC Long Trips Meeting  (by Zoom) \nWed Jan 15th 7:00 pm  \nby ZOOM  \n  \nUPDATE: THIS MEETING WILL NO LONGER BE IN PERSON AND WILL BE CONDUCTED BY ZOOM \n  \n (RSVP to Dave W westell@shaw.ca )  \nThinking of an extended trip next summer?  January is a good time to start the planning. A time to book vacations\, to think about camping reservations and to secure outfitters and charter flights.    \n The BCC Long Trips Meeting is an opportunity to state and discuss your interests with others\, to propose a trip\, seek one to join\, research logistics\, or to just listen in.    \n The format is simple.  Each person gets a chance to state interest in a trip and answer questions.  A contact list is circulated.  Then the rest is up to you.  \n (Just like other years\, we’ll be meeting by Zoom.  We were going to meet in person\, but were not able to book the room.  Don’t worry\,  you can still meet with your cohorts later in advanced stages of your trip planning.) \n Every year\, some extended trips start right here\, at the Long Trips Meeting\, and people who came go on to get the experience they wanted\, and to have a lot of fun.    \n But just remember.   They are private trips\, not sanctioned Beaver Canoe Club trips.  The BCC Club does not endorse them or discourage them\, or even know what plans are made after the meeting is over.  \n It’s up to you to know the trip’s difficulty and its hazards\, to know if you have the knowledge and skills required\, to know that your participants and cohorts are qualified too\, and to know that adequate safety measures are in place.  That’s a lot to know.  All the trip’s dangers and hardships are up to you\, and its rewards.  \nContact:  To register\, please email westell@shaw.ca and a zoom link will be sent prior to the event. \n

SUMMARY:Harrison River: Lakewater & Gr 1
DESCRIPTION:THIS TRIP MAY BE MOVED TO MON DEC 2nd IF WEATHER DICTATES \nA paddle along the length of the Harrison River\, from the village of Harrison Hot Springs to Kilby Provincial Park. \nThis part day trip starts with an approximate 2 hour paddle from Harrison Hot Springs launch site.  Enroute we’ll have a chance to view ancient petroglyphs along the west side cliffs of the Harrison. \nWe’ll stop for lunch (about 45min break) near the confluence of Morris Creek and Harrison River.  \nFor the final approx. 2 hours of paddling\, after Morris Creek\, the terrain changes from a river flowing through a steep sided valley and breaks out into a broad shallow & braided river delta where salmon arrive to spawn this time of year and  eagles fly in by the hundreds to  feed on them and where we will enjoy natures’ spectacle.  You won’t see such a concentration of eagles many other places in the world\, and you won’t find a better way to see them than from your canoe. \nBundle up\, it’s a long day\, sometimes chilly\, and sometimes a little wet (rain gear required).  But the spectacle is worth the experience. \nIn the morning we will meet at the Kilby Park Boat launch @ 8:30 am to arrange car & canoe shuttle to the Harrison Hot Springs launch site\, while leaving at least one car at Kilby Park to facilitate getting back to our cars in Harrison at the end of the day. \nIt’s about a 2 hour drive from Vancouver to Kilby Park if you leave by 6:30 am. \nTHIS TRIP MAY BE MOVED TO MON DEC 2nd IF WEATHER DICTATES \nContact: Rob B “Rob rbrusse1@telus.net \n
