SUMMARY:Harrison River: Lakewater & Gr 1
DESCRIPTION:THIS TRIP MAY BE MOVED TO MON DEC 2nd IF WEATHER DICTATES \nA paddle along the length of the Harrison River\, from the village of Harrison Hot Springs to Kilby Provincial Park. \nThis part day trip starts with an approximate 2 hour paddle from Harrison Hot Springs launch site.  Enroute we’ll have a chance to view ancient petroglyphs along the west side cliffs of the Harrison. \nWe’ll stop for lunch (about 45min break) near the confluence of Morris Creek and Harrison River.  \nFor the final approx. 2 hours of paddling\, after Morris Creek\, the terrain changes from a river flowing through a steep sided valley and breaks out into a broad shallow & braided river delta where salmon arrive to spawn this time of year and  eagles fly in by the hundreds to  feed on them and where we will enjoy natures’ spectacle.  You won’t see such a concentration of eagles many other places in the world\, and you won’t find a better way to see them than from your canoe. \nBundle up\, it’s a long day\, sometimes chilly\, and sometimes a little wet (rain gear required).  But the spectacle is worth the experience. \nIn the morning we will meet at the Kilby Park Boat launch @ 8:30 am to arrange car & canoe shuttle to the Harrison Hot Springs launch site\, while leaving at least one car at Kilby Park to facilitate getting back to our cars in Harrison at the end of the day. \nIt’s about a 2 hour drive from Vancouver to Kilby Park if you leave by 6:30 am. \nTHIS TRIP MAY BE MOVED TO MON DEC 2nd IF WEATHER DICTATES \nContact: Rob B “Rob rbrusse1@telus.net \n

SUMMARY:Stave Lake and Cardinalis Creek: Lakewater
DESCRIPTION:This trip leaves from Kearsley Creek camp site situated 9km up a well used (good) Forest Service Road on the west side of Stave Lake.\nThere is parking and a good launch but also a $10 day use fee. \n \nIts about 1.5 hour paddle to the entrance of Cardinalis Creek and hopefully our lunch/ swimming spot.\n \nIts a beautiful paddle through the Stave Lake channel up to the Main Lake\, from there we go south to Cardinalis Creek.\n \nWe hope to stop at the entrance for lunch and a swim\, or consider paddling the additional 4 km up the inland creek where it is serene and beautiful.\n \nThe end of the day is normally a reasonably calm paddle back most of the the way with some head wind in the last stretch. That portion can be windier on occasion.\n \nWith good weather this is a very nice paddle day.\n \nHope to see you there.\n \n If you are interested please contact Bob Podesta (ubiquitousb7@gmail.com)
